The Foster and Kinship Care Education (FKCE) program provides Resource Family training as part of the California Department of Social Services requirements for approving foster family homes. FKCE classes meet Pre-Approval, Annual and Specialized training requirements as established in the Resource Family Approval Written Directives. Program offerings vary by college through a collaborative process between the college and county departments of social services.
FKCE aims to support California’s diverse communities by adding inclusive statewide practices such as ADA compliant classes for accessibility, in-person and online class options, and access to bilingual facilitators for families with English as their second language.
Applicant and Approved Resource Families residing in California qualified through the Resource Family Approval program, and Tribally Approved Homes, are eligible to participate in FKCE classes.
